About The Workshop

Inspired by one of the most fascinating traditions of Native Americans, this interactive dream catcher workshop will help you create your own dream catcher using an upcycled doily. We’ll start with general insights on the old barn, nestled along the historic Dawson Trail and provide insight on the origins of the dream catcher, followed with step-by-step instructions to create your very own! We’ve allowed 2 hours for this experience which takes place by a cozy wood stove fire inside an old barn. It’ll be plenty warm but do dress appropriately. Washrooms are also styled in the old tradition, with two outhouses located within a few feet of the barn, in a clean and well-lit environment. This relaxing and creative workshop will have you leaving with your very own doily dreamcatcher. A perfect accent for the home or a joy to give as a gift. We provide you with all the supplies, as listed below, but you are welcome to bring keepsakes, charms, coloured yard, fabric, feathers or other mementos from loved ones or otherwise, to make it more meaningful and personal.

Maximum number of participants: 6

Cost: $40 each (includes taxes and basic materials)

Materials Included:

• 8-10” metal ring

• Vintage or antique doily, each one unique and available on a first come, first serve basis

• 15-20 strands of lace or ribbon, mostly neutral in colour, with some pink, light blue,

  black, green (approx. 24” each)

• 3-8 feathers

• 2 beads

• String and yarn

• Glue

Note: participants are welcome to bring their personal yarn, doily, feathers or other tokens or keepsakes to personalize their work. Cost is all-inclusive, whether materials are used or not.
